Embrace Your Inner Maximalist: Get the @LoriHirshleifer look

Don’t be afraid to be a stacker: what we can learn from the wonderfully stylish @LoriHirshleifer

If you’re anything like me and spend an unhealthy amount of time devising mood boards on Pinterest, you’ve probably stumbled across a wave of jewellery trends infiltrating your feed. From dainty pieces to bold avant-garde designs, there is a wave of minimalist and maximalist trends you can harness to devise a unique and dazzling display of personal style.

But quite frankly no one wears drip like Lori Hirshleifer. Heading up the Fashion Buying and the creative side of the business for her family’s 100-year-old store, Hirshleifer’s, it’s clear that Lori’s signature style is one that radiates the utmost attention to detail, particularly when it comes to jewellery. Lori has undoubtedly got one of the most incredible collections of jewellery ensembles. Whilst one could argue that the art of dressing well is part of LH’s DNA, there’s no doubt that we could all learn a thing or two from Lori’s approach to how she dresses herself.

By scouring Lori’s Instagram handle, we break down a few of her jewellery styling looks and provide a comprehensive guide of brands to look out for when curating your own jewellery compositions.

1) Jewellery making is all about storytelling and fundamentally buying pieces that speak to you.

Curating your jewellery collection can be incredibly overwhelming when it comes to knowing where to begin and what to look for. From a personal perspective, the minimalist jewellery looks for me have always felt too overly ‘feminine’ and somewhat prescriptive. Evidently, Lori is a self-proclaimed ‘pro stacker’ mastering the art of piling bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings with the utmost confidence and flair.

2) Mix your metals, styles and even stones

Gone are the days when you had to pick just one tone for your jewellery collection. Whilst 90s minimalism proves to be an enduring style trend and strong style preference amongst Gen-Z, enhancing your look by stacking layers from a jewellery perspective can serve to add a whole new dimension to your look. Taking inspiration from Lori, it’s clear that we should not shy away from being daring in our pursuit of jewellery collecting.

 3) Prioritize your staple pieces and use your jewellery to elevate your look

Lori is a master of combining staple tees with flamboyant and unstructured trousers and skirts. Carefully combining both feminine and masculine ways of dressing, Lori’s looks stretch from sporty chic to business casual. There is so much depth and creativity to her outfits and I personally love her ability to combine modern brands (think Ganni) alongside classic high-end pieces. But it's Lori’s jewellery collection that ultimately adds visual interest and detail to her outfits. Well-chosen jewellery pieces can complement the colours and textures of clothing, creating a more balanced and harmonious overall look.

So, we’ve broken down a few core elements of how to get the Lori look- but what about if you’re looking to start the jewellery hunt now? We’ve listed four of our favourite brands showcasing a diverse spectrum of styles that you should have on your bling radar.
